Alternative medicine has served as a lateral aid to the medical services, in terms of diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Their primary role is to provide advanced pre hospital Medical care to the medical care to the patients. A alternative practitioner can be defined as a person who works in a health care field in an auxiliary capacity to a physician. They are specially trained medical technicians. Certified to provide a wide range of emergency medical services. With the advent of technological development of medical science, several invasive and non invasive tools were designed. Even though they play a crucial role in delivery health care, their contribution went unnoticed in terms of setting up a separate council-governingbody, specified guidelines/regulations to maintain a uniform high quality standard of training &education of alternative all over the nation and register qualified personnel for the free practice of the profession in a developing country as India, the rural section is still left unattended in terms of quality health care system, due to the acute shortage of skilled health care personnel. This dearth of alternative practitioner has to be compensated with increased world class training and education in alternative science to the youth for catering a quality health care services to this needy section of the society.

The realisation of sudden need of alternative service has led to the establishment of Institute/colleges without affiliation of recognition which is misleading and receiving for the students in particular and the public health in general. Keeping the above scenario in mind, with the association of private organization, NGO's and many honorary bodies of several states, the concept of setting up a council has finally taken a shape in the year 1987, with the name Indian council of alternative medicines. Aims and objectives of the council.

To expose the benefit of alternative practitioner nation wide.

To register candidates with deserving quality for fare and professional practice and maintain and all India alternative practitioner who hold registration.

To issue ethical guide lines for the personal practice and lift up the standard quality practice.

To set up grades of membership in the council based on the duration of membership.

To expose the members of the council with the recent scientific development in the alternative system by holding periodical presentations and seminars, workshops, refresher courses, orientation courses, India level meeting, etc. And regular exposure by journals, publication, discussion.

To expose the members with world class technological advancement in the field of alternative system and their operations.

To encourage the other Institutes and research labs all over India to work in collaboration and promote the field.

To receive donations, grants, gifts, and acquired, hold, manage and dispose any property moveable or immovable including trust and endorsement properties.

To maintain the honor and dignity of the principles and protect interest of the alternative system by expressing views and checking the means that interferes with the policy matters and regulatory affairs of the council.

To encourage research in the alternative system by exposing the members with recent research development in premier research Institute.

To encourage central and state government to establish alternative system centers, hospitals, provide donations, grants, promotion and upliftment of the field.

To affiliate other register bodies that are subscribing with the policy of this council.

To establish good will among statutory bodies, boards, councils, associations, universities for support for the fulfillment of the goal.

To organize public campaign to spread awareness about diseases and common house hold health care system and encourage the NGO'S To participate in such initiatives.

To promote cooperations and built relationships with the members of alternative system fraternity by forming a unitary organization of alternative practitioner.

To recognise an institution of higher learning and may withdraw recognition for the purpose of the councils objectives.

To publish journals and papers for the mass awareness of several healthy hazardous development in the field of alternative system and disseminate its benefit.

To set up guidelines protecting the rights and privileges for the register alternative practitioner and Express stripped views to any external policies affecting there practice in particular and public health in general.

To issue regulations, to be implemented by several branches all over India under the Council, for synchronised performance to achieve uniform quality in Alternative medicines.

To inspect/ visit the branches nationwide for maintaining a equal standard of education in Alternative medicines.
